Along with the development of technology, the trend of smart
home is increasingly in demand, where all home devices such as lights and home
theaters are connected to a Wi-Fi network and can be controlled via a
smartphone.
But one of the things that often make the customers feel a
little bit frustrating is that each brand has its own mobile application. So to
control the lightings and home theaters that are placed in the same room, the
customers need to use two different applications.
To solve this problem, consumers usually opt to use a
universal remote. Indeed this type of device has been widely available in the
market, but it seems that Logitech is still quite confident to introduce
Harmony Elite, which is claimed as the only remote you need for your smart
home.
As a remote, the Logitech Harmony Elite looks fairly
standard. What makes it different is there is a 2.4-inch touch screen above the
row of buttons. So to adjust the volume or set other functions, users only need
to swipe the screen rather than hold a physical button. This method is clearly
more intuitive and convenient for the users.
Logitech Harmony Elite comes with a hub that becomes an
interaction bridge between the remote and devices, whether through infrared,
Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. Logitech claims that this hub can recognize and transmit
instructions to the more than 270,000 entertainment devices from around 6,000
different brands.
This hub also receives a signal from a smartphone or tablet,
which means that users can use these devices as a remote with the help of
Harmony App on Android or iOS. So simply put, when you are at home you just
need Harmony Elite to control all home devices, and when you go out but forget
to turn off the TV, you can open the Harmony App on your smartphone to turn it
off remotely, a nice combination to control your home.
This universal remote is also compatible with a series of
smart home devices such as Philips Hue, SmartThings, and others. But the most
interesting feature is the Activities feature where you can control multiple
devices at once with only one tap. For example, tap on the Movie Time, then the
lights will be dimmed and the TV and home theaters will light up.
Logitech Harmony Elite will be marketed on September in the
United States and Canada for $ 350 - including the Harmony Hub.
