Fujifilm X-T2 Is Officially Introduced

Fujifilm X-T2

2016 seems to be a sequel moment for Fujifilm. After releasing the Fujifilm X-Pro2 in last January, this camera company has just introduced the Fujifilm X-T2, which is the successor of the Fujifilm X-T1.

If seen from the outside, it seems that Fujifilm X-T2 doesn't bring much change. However, Fujifilm has implemented a number of minor revisions which makes X-T2 better than its predecessor.

The major update given is the use of brand-new sensor X-Trans CMOS III with a resolution of 24.3 megapixels. This APS-C sized sensor is the same as found in the X-Pro2, and when paired with a new image processing chip, the picture in low-light conditions will look excellent with minimal noise.

Its sensitivity to light is also getting better, now it supports up to ISO 12800. And interestingly, the Fujifilm X-T2 becomes the first Fujifilm's mirrorless camera that carries the option of 4K 30 fps video recording. Yup, it looks like this is the first step of Fujifilm to improve its reputation in the field of video.

The high quality of images and videos is also supported by faster performance. The maximum shutter speed of this camera now stands at 1/8,000 seconds, while its autofocus performance has been improved significantly with a choice of 325 focal points - 91 points of which are the phase detection focal points for shooting moving objects.

The excellent performance of autofocus tracking is accompanied by an electronic viewfinder (EVF) which has a refresh rate of 100 fps in Boost mode. Its resolution and zoom rate are still the same, i.e. 2.36 million dot and 0,77x, but Fujifilm ensures that the moving objects can be presented in the EVF without hampered at all, even in low light conditions. Complementing all the features is the maximum brightness level which has been doubled.

Although the design looks identical with the X-T1, but the X-T2 has been designed in order to be more comfortable in the hand of the users. Not only with a larger grip, X-T2 also brings a new design of rotary knob on the top panel and the addition of a joystick on the back for easy setting of focal point.

Its 3 inch LCD can now be tilted, not just up or down, but also to the right side - ideal for users who want to take pictures in portrait orientation. Right on the right side, there is a pair of SD card slots which support UHS-2 mode.

Fujifilm X-T2 will be marketed starting in September, at a price of $ 1,600 for the body only, or $ 1,900 together with XF 18-55mm f/2.8-4 lens.
