In 2007, a company named Kopin launched a kind of heads-up
display (HUD) that can display the screen contents of the connected iPod. Kopin is now presenting new smart glasses
called Solos that's intended for the cyclists.
The Solos' Frame is made of a light polycarbonate material
and is designed to be aerodynamically. As a wearable device, it's also
comfortable to be used in a long time.
On the right side of the frame, there is a kind of 'arm'
that extends up to the front. Yup, that section is a display of Solos, just
like the design of Google Glass. The difference is the position of this arm can
be adjusted, so you are free to put it on the top or bottom of the glass.
The screen of Solos is also special; it's close to the pupil
and will present a 5-inch wide screen which can still be seen easily even when
the sun is shining brightly. To adjust the brightness and also various aspects
of Solos, user doesn't need to use his hands; Solos is ready to receive voice
instructions from the user.
Although it has a cool design and quality screen,
unfortunately Kopin Solos can only display the data - including the
notification. To collect the metric data, you still need a fitness tracker that
uses ANT + as synchronization platform. Solos has a battery that can last up to
6 hours on a single charge.
So far there is no information about the release time and
also the price of Kopiin Solos, hopefully it won't be too expensive because you
still need extra funds to buy fitness tracker, Solos will only display the data
in real-time directly in front of you.
