As the highest mountain in the world, it's not surprising if
Everest has always been a major target that wants to be conquered by the
professional mountaineers. But thanks to the virtual reality technology, now
you don't need to bother of being a professional mountaineer to be able to
reach the top of Everest.
A developer from Ireland, Solfar Studios, is preparing an
ambitious project called Everest VR. No, this is not a 360 degree video that's
taken by the team members when they were climbing the mountain, but an
interactive virtual reality experience that will be enjoyed in the Oculus Rift,
HTC Vive and PlayStation VR.
The developer is very serious about the graphics and details
of the Everest VR. Therefore, Solfar Studios cooperates with RVX, an animation
studio that was responsible for the visual effects of the Everest film which
was released last year.
One of Solfar Studios' animators
is even a mountain climber and experienced ice climber. This is of course
crucial in the process of creating realistic animation effects. Complementing
all the features, there is Unreal Engine 4, which has proven its reliability in
creating graphics to make it looks real.
Everest VR will be even more
impressive when the user is wearing Oculus Touch controller or PlayStation
Move, in which the user will be tested to survive and become the conqueror of
Everest. According to the plan the Everest VR will be launched in this year,
although so far there is still no exact schedule of release date.
