Spouses or siblings who sleep in the same room most likely
have ever experienced anything like this; the alarm rings, both wake up, when
only one person who has purpose to get up at the appointed time. To overcome
this problem maybe you can activate the alarm of your smartphone in vibrate
mode, or you can use the earphones. However, both methods are not effective;
the smartphone vibration generally won't be sufficient to wake you up, and
sleeping with headphones on ears really feels uncomfortable.
But there is a more interesting solution to overcome this problem;
you can use a device called Wakē. This device is a modern clock alarm that's
designed to wake the couples one by one, not at the same time as what's done by
a conventional clock alarm.
How Wakē could do it? First, attach the Wakē on the wall
above the bed, and set an alarm for each of the room's occupants through a
companion app on Android and iOS devices. When the wake-up time arrives, Wakē
will use infra-red sensors to detect the presence of you, without the help of a
camera and microphone so you don't have to worry about your privacy disturbed.
Wakē's infra-red sensor is claimed able to recognize you and your partner
through body temperature respectively.
Furthermore, Wake will be shining a light from the LED light
to your face, the white beam will be brighter continuously. But only light
sometimes is not enough, for that Wakē packs a very interesting technology. The
technology is called parametric speakers. Simply put, Wakē can focus the sound
only to the intended person.
Parametric speaker utilizes ultrasonic waves to direct the
sound, making it as if like a spotlight or a laser beam. The sound of Wakē will
only be heard softly in the ear of your couple who sleeps besides you. Wake
doesn't require a cable to operate. It wears a battery that's claimed can last up
to several months in one-time charge. When the battery is low, a notification
will be sent to the companion application.
The companion application is the control center of Wakē in
overall. In addition to setting the alarm, you can choose the desired ringtone,
how loud the volume, and how bright the light that will be emitted. To carry
out all its functions, Wakē wears a special CPU from Spark.io, complete with
Wi-Fi N for purposes of firmware updates. Wakē developer has promised OTA
update periodically in the future in order to send new features and
functionality to their smart clock alarm. If you are interested, you can order
it on Kickstarter with the lowest pledge of $ 249 to get one unit of Wakē.
