Google collaborates with Dexcom to make a new generation of blood glucose monitor

A few days after announcing the reshuffle of its corporate, Google makes quick business maneuver, one of the latest breakthroughs is Google works together with Dexcom to create a new blood glucose monitor.

This collaboration is expected to create a new generation of Dexcom CGM (Continuous Glucose Monitoring) with a compact size so it can be carried easily anywhere and at anytime. To realize the plan, Dexcom takes Google Life Science division as a partner.

Furthermore, Dexcom wants that this device can be obtained and used by all people due to its affordable price. It's expected that this device not only can be used by people with type 1 diabetes but also type 2 diabetes.

Kevin Sayer, as President and Chief Executive Officer of Dexcom hopes that this cooperation will change the face of technology in the field of diabetes forever. He also believes that this collaboration will produce a product which is more than their primary business that targets the type 1 diabetes, and becomes the standard of health for all people who suffer from diabetes.

Blood glucose monitor that's developed by both parties will be designed with an emphasis on the lowest cost. They agree to focus on the smaller size, easy to carry, connect to the cloud and can be disposed safely. As part of the deal, Dexcom would control the sales and distribution of the device.
