When visiting other countries, language differences often
become the main obstacle in communication. Google Translate app or the like can
indeed help, but the wireless headset from a startup named Waverly Labs offers
a simpler solution.
Named Pilot, this headset allows two people to converse
fluently although both use different languages. Or in other words, it is able
to translate conversation in real-time.
Both of people who converse have to use this headset, and
then each person just needs to speak with his/her own language. So for example
you want to talk with a French person, you can say hello and ask him a question
in English, and he will hear it in French, and vice versa.
This device works like Ili, a translator tool that can work
offline. Pilot can do the same, where the users can connect to a smartphone,
and the translation can still be enjoyed even if there's no internet
connection. When it's not working as a translator, it could function like a wireless
headset in general.
Waverly Labs plans to offer the Pilot via Indiegogo starting
on 25 May. This device will come in three colors, with a price range of $ 129 -
$ 179 during the early bird. Its retail price is estimated between $ 250 - $
300. Unfortunately, there is no information about what languages that are
supported by Pilot.
