Before the Google I/O 2016 starts, Google launches a new
application called Spaces. This application could be considered as the rival of
Slack, its main function is to facilitate group communication.
Spaces is not just a regular group chat application, Google
has instilled Search, YouTube and Chrome into it. Thus, users don't need to
switch applications at all when trying to find information on the Internet to
complement their conversation.
The conversation will be divided per topic. In it, users can
share anything, ranging from articles, videos and pictures. When about
searching for specific content that has been shared previously, users can
utilize the search function in the Spaces - search includes all the content,
even the images.
Another great feature of Google Spaces is that users can
invite anyone into conversations via other chat applications, email, social
media, or any medium that can be used to share a link. They are not required to
download Spaces app beforehand, considering Spaces can also be accessed via
browser, both desktop and mobile, using a Gmail account.
Spaces is available for Android and iOS. Google itself plans
to test the effectiveness of Spaces along with the developer in Google I/O
event.
