In this modern era, people certainly have been accustomed to
type by using a touch screen. However, such method is less effective when
applied to a device with a small screen size, smartwatch for example.
Therefore, the technology starts to move into other typing method by using
voice command.
But voice command is not the only alternative that can be used;
there is another solution that's more simple and effective to be used on all
devices in various sizes. Its name is Tap Strap, and it is a wearable keyboard
that will turn your hand into a Bluetooth keyboard.
Tap Strap looks like a brass knuckle, with a hole for each
of the user's finger. It is made from a flexible fabric material that has been
planted with a number of sensors to detect movements of user's fingers.
After being used and paired with a smartphone, tablet, or
smartwatch, the Tap Strap is ready to be used as long as your hand is on a
surface. The surface doesn't have to be flat, even your own thigh can be used
as typing pad.
Tap Strap works in a simple way, each of fingers represents
the vowels, while consonants are represented by a combination of a number of
fingers. Examples: tap your thigh with the right thumb, and then the "A"
letter will appear on the device's screen, tap the thumb and forefinger together,
then the "N" letter will appear.
Users have to remember some patterns and combinations of
fingers that will be needed to type each letter. The Tap Strap comes along with
a companion app that will teach all of this in a fun way, combining visual and
musical guide.
For now the Tap Strap is still in the testing phase for a
number of selected users, but the developer hopes to launch the Tap Strap to
the market before the end of 2016.
