Since the beginning of HoloLens
announcement, Microsoft explained that this mixed reality device was not only
intended for entertainment purposes just like the VR which so far more focused
on gaming. The combination of AR and VR that's carried by HoloLens made it
ideal to be used in various contexts, including in working world.
Therefore, now the type of
applications for HoloLens is getting varied than the application of VR headset
such as Oculus Rift and HTC Vive. One of the famous developers that has been
ready to show off a preview of its application for HoloLens is AgileBits, which
is the team behind the popular password processing application: 1Password.
Through Twitter, the developer
shows how the users will be able to use 1Password in HoloLens. As we have seen
from some demonstrations of HoloLens before, the device is also suitable for
surfing the web and using a variety of Internet-based services. This also makes
the presence of 1Password will be relevant.
The function of 1Password for
HoloLens is the same with its application in mobile and desktop: to store
users' passwords or sensitive information in the encrypted virtual 'safety
box'. Users only need one master password to open the 'safety box', and then access
the passwords for different services with ease.
So far AgileBits hasn't disclosed
when exactly 1Password for HoloLens will be available. HoloLens itself so far
could only be enjoyed by the developers.
