After years of designing robotic vacuum cleaner, iRobot's
reputation in the cleaning robot segment is no doubt anymore. Now the company
that's founded in 1990 introduces a new category of automatic cleaning system,
which is a robotic floor mop named Braava Jet.
Braava Jet borrows the technology from the Roomba line which
has brought popularity for iRobot over the years. Even so, it's assigned
specifically to mop the floor that's made from wood, ceramics and various other
types of stones.
Braava Jet has a fairly compact body, with dimensions of 17
x 18 x 8 cm and weighs 1.2 kg. This makes it capable of accessing tight
corners, such as around the kitchen table, bath, or in between the legs of
tables and chairs. Braava Jet is also equipped with the ability to detect and
avoid barrier, and it certainly won't cross your carpet.
To use it, user just needs to insert a cleaning pad on the
bottom, fill the tank with water and pressing the "Clean" button on
the surface of Braava Jet. Next it will start mopping the floor with a
systematic pattern, make sure that all angles can be reached efficiently.
Braava Jet's cleaning pads consist of three types: Wet
Mopping, Damp Sweeping, and Dry Sweeping, each of them is intended for
different stain intensity. The Wet and Damp have a cleaning material that will
dissolve with water that's sprayed, while the Dry pad is intended to wipe and
clean the floor of dust or just pet fur.
The tree pads can be directly discharged after cleaning the
floor. If you want to save money, you can purchase the optional cleaning pads
that can be washed. Braava Jet itself will adjust the sweeping mode with the
type of cleaning pads attached.
Braava Jet emphasizes portability aspect through
rechargeable battery and a handle. This device has been marketed in the US and
Canada for $ 200.
