After about one year, Sonny finally introduces the successor
of the A6000, its flagship APS-C mirrorless camera. Called Sony A6300, the
camera is still carrying the same mission as its predecessor, to pursuit the
performance and agility of DSLR cameras. Now the A6300 is claimed to be far
more agile by implementing the sophisticated hybrid autofocus system.
Its main excellence is the addition of phase-detection focal
points to be 425 points. This means that nearly the entire frame can be reached
by its autofocus system, and because the number of its points is increased
drastically, the result will be more accurate.
Sony claims that the A6300 needs only 0:05 seconds to lock
the focus on an object. But the more impressive is its ability to shoot in 11
fps speed in autofocus position on. Even in live view active position, the
camera can still take pictures in the speed of 8 fps.
The excellent performance is also accompanied by the use of
new APS-C sensor resolution of 24.2 megapixels. Its ISO range is about
100-51200, and it is certainly capable of recording video in 4K resolution by
maximizing the overall sensors, aka without pixel binning method.
Physically, the changes are not so dramatic. The A6300 still
brings a minimalist and ergonomic design thanks to the large hand grip. The top
panel only has a pair of knobs, one to switch modes, and one can be set to
adjust shutter speed, aperture and exposure compensation.
The rear panel is equipped with OLED electronic viewfinder
(EVF) with a resolution of 2.4 million dots. EVF is also capable of displaying
images in a speed of 120 fps so the whole action will look smooth with no lag
at all.
Beneath it, the user will see a 3-inch LCD. Unfortunately
the LCD is not equipped with a touch panel. The A6300 body is also not
weatherproof - you are not advised to use it while heavy rain. Apart from that,
Sony A6300 is still very seductive thanks to its autofocus performance. Sony
plans to release A6300 to the market starting next March for $ 1000 (body only)
or $ 1,150 along with 16-50 mm f / 3.5 kit lens.
