So far, Fitbit can be said to be more concerned towards
function rather than aesthetic. Its activity tracker line is intended for
consumers with different needs. There is Flex which is a standard tracker for
everyday purposes, there is Charge HR that brings heart rate sensor for active
users, and there is also the Surge, which is equipped with the most complete
tracking features.
But all of the existing trackers still bring standard
designs, including the Fitbit's first smartwatch, the Fitbit Blaze. But now the
problem will be solved by the latest tracker called Fitbit Alta. Fitbit
explains that Alta is designed by emphasizing the fashion aspect. It's
specifically created to complement your outfit, while at the same time monitor your
body fitness every day.
The core part of Fitbit Alta is packed in a stainless steel
case - even Fitbit will also offer this tracker in a gold color. The premium
case is also accompanied by a row of premium straps, including genuine leather
and polished stainless steel.
In terms of features, Alta is basically very similar to
Fitbit Charge (non-HR). It can monitor the user's activity and sleep patterns
automatically. It even features SmartTrack, where the tracker can recognize
certain types of exercise that's being undertaken by the user automatically.
Because intended for the general consumers, Alta is not
equipped with a heart rate sensor and GPS. This gives a positive impact on the battery
durability, where it can operate up to five days on one charge.
Alta comes with a monochrome OLED touch screen. User can use
it as a timepiece, in which the appearance can be set in portrait or landscape
mode. This screen also serves to show the incoming notification from the user's
smartphone.
Fitbit Alta is offered at a price of $ 130, includes a
standard strap made of rubber. Consumers could buy another strap separately:
the leather strap costs $ 60, while the stainless steel strap is offered at a
price of $ 100. The international release schedule will begin in April. Later,
Fitbit also plans to bring fashion accessories from Tory Burch for Alta.
