Through CES 2016, Yuneec introduces its latest and most sophisticated
drone, Typhoon H. The Yuneec Typhoon H is the first consumer version of the
drone that's powered by Intel RealSense technology. Simply put, this technology
utilizes an infrared camera to scan the objects in front of it. That means
Typhoon H can detect and avoid obstacles when it's flying.
Just like most of drones in the market, Typhoon H also
brings automatic flight feature which is divided into several different modes,
so if you choose a certain mode, such as "Follow" where the drone
will move by itself following the controller holder; it won't hit a tree, wall
or other object that's blocking the route.
DJI actually also has a drone that's equipped with the same
capability, i.e. Matrice 100, but so far the drone is more intended for
developers, while Typhoon H is really targeting the mass consumers.
Typhoon H is equipped with six propellers, make it can't be
called as quadcopter. The addition of two extra propellers is intended to make
the drone stay stable if there were one or two propellers that suddenly stopped
working.
Furthermore, each propeller can be folded down when it's not
in use, and make it easy to be brought anywhere you want, especially
considering that the Typhoon H consists a lot of carbon fiber material in order
to reduce the overall weight drastically.
If talking about the image quality, Typhoon H is ready to
record video in 4K resolution and take photos in a resolution of 12 megapixels.
But the unique part of this drone is its controller, the size of Typhoon H's
controller is fairly big because right in the middle you will find a 7-inch
screen, and Yuneec has instilled the Android operating system into it. Thus,
user no longer needs to use a smartphone or tablet to display the recording
result in real-time. Typhoon H itself is ready to forward the video to the
controller's screen in 720p resolution.
Yuneec places the Typhoon H as the challenger of DJI Inspire
1. Yuneec even doesn't hesitate to set a more aggressively price for Typhoon H,
i.e. $ 1,799, or about $ 800 cheaper than DJI Inspire 1.
