It is not a secret that Google still becomes the main tool
for internet users in searching information they need. However, we can't deny
the fact that Yahoo has existed first before Google. Unfortunately, this
seniority is not enough to take Yahoo a step ahead of Google in the search
engine realm.
But one of the advantages of Yahoo is the ownership of
Flickr image sharing service. So now, in addition to displaying images from the
Internet, Yahoo will also pick the photos that are uploaded to Flickr in its
image search results.
This feature is currently only available for users who live
in the United States. When you log in by using your account on the desktop and
search for images by keyword "flowers" for example, Yahoo will
display the photographs from Flickr that also include your own uploaded images
(if it is relevant), the photos of other people who you follow, and also the
most popular public photos.
Filter of search can also be applied to the Flickr
photographs that are displayed, such as the colors contained in the images or
the sizes. Of course, you can also sort the search results based on the license
- one important thing to note when you are about to publish such images in
personal blogs for example.
The update is of course expected to attract more users to
use Yahoo search engine, but at the same time it can also add the incoming
traffic to Flickr, because in the image search results, there is also the
"More images" button that will take you to the search results on
Flickr.com directly.
