Photos and videos are two elements that often become
mainstays of big developers. Fly Labs is one of the developers that's
consistently playing in this realm, and its excellent work has successfully
attracted the attention of Google. Recently Fly Labs team officially announces
that it has been acquired by Google, and becomes a part of that giant company.
In Mountain View, Fly Labs will join the team behind Google
Photos application, the photo storage application that was introduced in last
May. Although Fly Labs doesn't describe it in detail, but it gives a little
glimpse of what is done there. "Google Photos is a home for your life’s
memories, powered by Google’s machine learning and computer vision technology.
It’s a perfect match for what we built at Fly Labs, and we’re looking forward
to folding our technology into Google Photos. We’ll be pouring the same passion
into Google Photos that we poured into Clips, Fly, Tempo and Crop on the
Fly."
Although Fly Labs consists of some small teams, but it has
successfully worked on what becomes its passion. This acquisition proves how
well the result of its works, in addition of 3 million downloads from 150
different countries and 20 million new videos in just 18 months.
But among the excellent achievements, Google seems to be
attracted to the ability of Fly Labs to provide 4K video support into its
editor application called Clips. The Clips is believed to be a puzzle piece
that will complement the Android platform.
