Tag Heuer's first smartwatch is finally released: Tag Heuer Connected

Tag Heuer Connected

After a year of rumors, finally Tag Heuer reveals its first smartwatch. Located in New York City, the smartwatch named Tag Heuer Connected is officially introduced.

What makes this smartwatch special is course its luxury, its body design is designed to follow the line of Tag Heuer Carrera. The entire design and manufacturing process took place in Switzerland. However technically it can't carry the label "Made in Switzerland" because the electronic components are from Intel.

Tag Heuer Connected is not intended for everyone, not because its price is pretty expensive, $ 1,500, but because the size is so large. The diameter of its titanium case is about 46.2 mm, with a thickness of 12.8 mm. The case is connected to a rubber strap that's made in various colors, complete with a titanium buckle. In construction, Tag Heuer Connected can be equated with other Swiss-made mechanical watches.

Developed directly alongside with Intel and Google, Tag Heuer entrusts the Android Wear to be the operating system of its smartwatch, which means it is compatible with both Android and iOS devices. The specifications include Bluetooth LE, Wi-Fi, 4 GB storage and a number of sensors for fitness tracking purposes.

Unfortunately, Tag Heuer Connected is not equipped with a heart rate sensor, which in essence has become a standard feature for the latest generation of smartwatches. It also doesn’t bring GPS and speakers, which means that all the notifications will be forwarded only in the form of vibration. Just like the majority of other smartwatches, the battery can't last too long; only 30 hours in a single charge.

Although in the term of features the Tag Heuer Connected is not too special, fortunately there are still two extra features that can't be found in other Android Wear smartwatches. The first is of course the watch face that's specifically designed by Tag Heuer so this smartwatch looks so much like Tag Heuer's mechanical watches.

Second, every consumer who buys the Tag Heuer Connected will be able to enjoy the service called "Connected to Eternity". So after two years, the owner of Tag Heuer Connected can bring his smartwatch to Tag Heuer retailer, and then exchange it with a mechanical watch - with the additional cost of $ 1,500. Thus, if later the specifications of Tag Heuer Connected are considered too old, you don't have to worry if it will 'expire' in your drawer.

As mentioned above, the Tag Heuer Connected will be priced at $ 1,500, making it in the same level with the Apple Watch Hermès. Its availability for international market will begin next month through Tag Heuer boutiques and a number of its retail partners.
