When finding a favorite song, you will tend to share it to
someone else - either through messaging application, or social media such as
Facebook or Twitter. And now with the presence of music streaming service, you
will easily find new songs, and of course will share them to social media more
often than before.
Seeing this trend, Facebook wants to provide a better
experience to share music. Facebook introduces a feature called 'Music Stories', which in essence is a new post format where people can listen to
30-second preview of the song (or album) that's distributed, without switching
applications at all.
So far, there are only two music streaming services that are
supported by this feature: Apple Music and Spotify. The Music Stories itself
for now is available only for Facebook application for iPhone. So now, all of the
songs or albums that are shared from Apple Music and Spotify will appear as
Music Stories when watched from the Facebook application for iPhone.
From there user can press the Play button to listen to a
preview of a song, or press the 'Listen on Apple Music' to instantly switch
application and listen to the song until the end. Not only that, Music Stories
also allows user to purchase the song or album via a link to iTunes directly.
In the future, Facebook confirms that it will expand its
support for the music streaming services for the Music Stories feature.
Unfortunately, there is no information whether this feature will be landing on
the Facebook application for Android in the near future - possibly Facebook
still waits for the presence of Apple Music app in Android officially.
