At a press conference of Microsoft Windows 10 hardware in
New York City, Microsoft officially announces the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL,
the newest family of smartphone devices that use the Windows 10 Mobile
operating system.
These new Lumia smartphones are using adaptive antenna and
cooling technology ala tablet that's adapted from the technology of Microsoft
Surface. If you use the Lumia 920 and 930 certainly you feel that the device
sometimes heats up quickly, especially when you are turning on the camera or
GPS application. With this latest technology, it is hoped that this problem
could be resolved.
The screens of Lumia 950 and 950 XL are using QHD OLED
technology and Glance feature which help users to see the screens even under
bright sunlight, and automatically turn on when users pull the device from the
bag or purse.
Both smartphones are also equipped with a 20 MP camera
sensor from the latest PureView technology, with three LED lights for the best
lighting, and the 5th generation of OIS (Optical Image stabilizer) that's able
to keep the device steady while taking pictures to avoid the shaking effects.
The 32 GB internal storage is also accompanied with the additional microSD Card.
Another feature that's embedded in the Lumia 950 and 950 XL
is the use of a USB Type-C port for charging. The cooperation with Qualcomm
resulted in the adoption of Quick Charge technology, where the device can be
charged 50% of the battery in just 30 minutes.
Both Lumia smartphones are also equipped with Qi Wireless
Charging so it can be charged wirelessly using induction technology. Lumia 950
and 950 XL will immediately start the Windows 10 Mobile so they are equipped
with Hello biometric sensor for authentication purpose. With this sensor users
can open the device just by looking at the screen.
Lumia 950 is equipped with hexa-core processor from
Snapdragon, and brings 5.2 inch screen, it's priced at $ 549. Meanwhile Lumia
950 XL is using octa-core Snapdragon processor, brings 5.7 inch screen, and is
offered at a price of $ 649. Both of these devices are expected to be released
in November 2015. Thus, certainly the final version of Windows 10 Mobile will
be presented coincide with the deadline.
Lumia 950 XL can also be run on Continuum mode. When you
connect the smartphone to the TV via HDMI, Lumia 950 XL will turn into a full
PC and can work easily. Lumia 950 XL basically will compete directly with other
high-end devices just like the iPhone 6S and Galaxy S6. On the other hand, the
Lumia 950 also has an interesting specification that makes it ready to compete
in the upper-middle class segment.
