Towards the IFA 2015 event that will soon begin on 4
September, LG introduces its latest innovation in the smart home field. Named
LG SmartThinQ sensor, the mission is quite ambitious: to provide 'intelligence'
in the traditional electronic furniture.
LG designs the device with rounded and flat form, so it can
be attached to electronic furniture, such as washing machine or refrigerator.
When it is installed, SmartThinQ sensor will detect the vibrations or
temperature changes that occur on the shelter device, and then forward the
information to the SmartThinQ application on the smartphone.
For example, a washing machine that has been attached with
SmartThinQ sensor can send a notification when the washing process is finished.
This is possible because SmartThinQ sensor detects that the washing machine is
no longer vibrate, indicating that the washing has been completed.
Another example is a fridge that has been fitted with
SmartThinQ sensor is claimed can provide information to the user when there are
certain foods that have been approaching expiration dates. In other cases, the
AC that has been attached with SmartThinQ sensor can be controlled from a
distance through the SmartThinQ application on smartphone.
In the same event, LG will also introduce two new devices
that are compatible with AllJoyn, an open platform Internet of Things (IOT)
that's developed by Allseen Alliance. These two devices are Smart Lightwave
Oven and Smart Air Conditioner.
Just like other smart ovens on the market, Smart Lightwave
Oven can be operated via a mobile device. But interestingly, this device can
perform diagnosis automatically when a problem occurs, and then helps the user
to find a solution and also gives information about the nearest repair center.
On the other hand, Smart Air Conditioner not only can be controlled via a
smartphone, but it will also send a notification when the air filter should be
replaced.
Possibility LG will reveal the prices and launch dates of
those new devices during the IFA 2015 event.
