Samsung unveils the Gear S2 specification few days before
the IFA Berlin 2015 is started. The brand-new smartwatch previously has been
shown by Samsung at the end of the introduction of the Galaxy Note 5 and S6
Edge +. Samsung Gear S2 carries a
rounded frame design similar to the Moto 360. But the interesting thing is,
Samsung Gear S2 consists of two different designs - or three types if based on
mobile capabilities.
Gear S2 has a rotating bezel, it's composed of stainless
steel with a thickness of only 11.4-millimeter. Gear S2 has a 1.2-inch round
screen, with 360 × 360 pixels resolution (302ppi). Samsung promises a high
level of sharpness so that users won't miss a notification. This smartwatch
will also give you a window to peek at your calendar, email, news, and even can
send short messages.
You are given choices between the Gear S2 Standard and
Classic models. The Standard variant is designed based on the principle of
minimalist and modern. It looks concise, and if you want, you can choose the
appearance without a chronograph. Meanwhile, the Classic variant is aimed for
consumers who want a timeless design of a traditional timepiece, combined with
black finishing and same colored leather strap. 'The third type' is Gear S2
with 3G connectivity.
Samsung Gear S2 is powered by 1GHz dual-core processor that’s
combined with 512MB RAM, 4GB internal memory, and is equipped with Wi-Fi,
Bluetooth and NFC. For everyday use, you don't need to worry because this
wearable device has obtained IP68 certification, this means that it's resistant
to dust and splashes. Its 250mAh Li-ion battery can be recharged via a wireless
charger unit. Then Samsung utilizes Tizen as its platform.
Furthermore, Samsung also equips the Gear S2 with
accelerometer, gyroscope, heart rate, light, and barometer. There are also S
Health and Nike+ Running features.
The manufacturer explains that Samsung will continue the
collaboration with developers and partners to enrich the ecosystem of services
and applications - some have been prepared for the release day later. For
users, customization can be applied to the interface and strap.
Samsung is still reluctant to reveal the information about
the price, release date, and compatibility. However, the demo unit will be
tested in IFA Berlin, on September 3, 2015.
