In last June, exactly ahead of the E3 2015, Microsoft
decided to cut the price of the Xbox One, as well as providing a newer version
that's equipped with a hard drive capacity of 1 terabyte. And now Microsoft
introduces a new version of its flagship console that's packaged in a bundle
called 'Elite'.
Its official name is the Xbox One Elite Bundle which
includes one unit of Xbox One and a new wireless controller called the Xbox
Elite that's revealed at E3 2015 stage. This bundle doesn't include Kinect, so
you have to buy it separately if you want it.
The console's finishing is now matte to adjust the
appearance of the elegant controller. But the biggest change is given on the
inside components. The Elite version comes with a hybrid drive with a capacity
of 1 terabyte. It’s called hybrid because this component combines the standard
HDD disk with high-speed SSD.
Microsoft claims that the use of hybrid drive can enhance
the performance of Xbox One, particularly in the loading process, where it can
'wake up' from energy-saving mode 20 percent faster than using a regular HDD.
This is possible thanks to the ability to store the frequently accessed files
to the SSD partition, and the rest in the HDD, similar to the performance of
the Fusion Drive in the Apple MacBook and iMac lines.
Xbox One Elite Bundle will be available in November for $
499. Microsoft will market exclusively through GameStop and Microsoft Store,
which has received pre-orders starting now.
