Google releases Android Experiments, a special portal for unique applications

Google releases Android Experiments

Since Android was launched, there's one thing which's always affirmed: this operating system is designed with open-source concept. But recently, Google wants to bring the open-source concept into further level through Android Experiments, a special place for the developers who want to 'crazily' make new innovations.

Actually this is not the first time Google provides a special place for developers. In 2009, Google introduced Chrome Experiments, which saved thousands of creative projects to maximize the technology sophistication of HTML5, JavaScript and WebGL.

The idea to create the Android Experiments is also the same where Google opens opportunities for developers to experiment with technologies that are carried by Android operating system, either for smartphones, tablets or smartwatch. Referring to the basic principle of Android, all of the projects in the Android Experiments are made in open-source too.

Speaking to VentureBeat, Google representative said that they are looking for creative projects that previously were unimaginable can be done on Android. The projects that can change the way users interact with Android devices daily.

Of course there are a number of requirements that must be met by developers if they want to collect their works to Android Experiments, and Google has assigned a special team to review all projects collected.

So far there are about 20 projects that have been collected in the Android Experiments. These projects are varies and each of them brings a unique idea; such as the Time Mesh, which is a live wallpaper for Android Wear where the animation effects depend on how calm the users.

If you are interested, all the experimental applications contained in Android Experiments can be downloaded via Google Play.
