Live streaming video service is now quite popular among
social media users. This service allows the users to tape their activities and
share them live.
Despite this is not a new feature, but live streaming video
service that's made by a number of services such as Snap Chat, Vine, Meerkats
and Periscope has created a new way for mobile devices users to be able to post
a live video that can be seen directly by other users around the world. Even
the Periscope service has managed to steal Twitter's attention to acquire it
with a value of 100 million USD, even though at that time the Periscope was
still a new startup.
Recently Facebook also try the same thing, they bring live
streaming feature which is called the 'Live'. With this service, Facebook users
can display video feeds directly to their followers. But for now this new live
streaming feature is available only for Facebook Mentions service, which can
only be used by the celebrities or public figures who have a verified Facebook
account.
When Facebook launched this service, actor Dwayne 'The Rock'
Johnson and the 2015 Wimbledon tennis player Serena William showed live videos
through Live for Facebook Mentions on their Facebook accounts. The fans of
these celebrities can watch different events live on Facebook.
Apparently other celebrities such as Luke Bryan, Ricardo
Kaka, Ashley Tisdale, Lester Holt, Martha Stewart, and Michael Bublé and many
more will also present live streaming videos on their Facebook accounts.
Although for now this service hasn't been able to be enjoyed
by all users, but Vadim Lavrusik as Product Manager for Facebook has hinted
that this service will also be able to be used by all people around the world.
The decision to bring the live streaming feature is
certainly interesting; this will become an interesting competition among social
networking companies, at least for Twitter (Periscope) and Facebook (Live).
