Founded by Nelson Gonzalez and Alex Aguila nearly 20 years
ago, Alienware was a pioneer of high-end gaming computers, both in the form of
desktops and notebooks. Perhaps because of the price factor, consumers in
developing countries are more familiar with Asian brands. But through some new
Alienware products, the competition in the gaming realm will heat up again.
To compete with Asian brands such as MSI Gaming and Asus
Republic of Gamers, in the PAX (Penny Arcade Expo) Prime event, Alienware
announces four advanced gaming laptops. They are Alienware 13, 15, 17 and the'monster' Alienware 18.
What is the difference between these new notebooks with the
previous variants? There's no significant change in the term of appearance, the
triangular UFO design that's carried by the Area-51 gaming desktop is still
applied to the four notebooks. But for the inside components, Alienware
provides the fifth generation of Intel Core processor, Nvidia GeForce GTX 900M,
and also support of Microsoft's latest operating system, Windows 10.
Especially for Alienware 13, 15 and 17, the producer puts no
less than 20 modifications, among others, USB 3.1 connectivity, PCI-Express SSD,
optional 62Whr battery, up to Killer Wireless 1535. The numbers on the variant
names indicate the width of the panel, with a few specific specializations:
Alienware 13 carries compact design, 15 is combined with strong carbon fiber
material, while 17 presents highest performance.
You are welcome to add Graphics Amplifier in the three
laptops above. This is Alienware's solution for the limited performance of
mobile class component, it's designed as a home of a discrete graphics card and
an independent 375W power supply - the option is GTX 950 up to Titan X. The
Graphics Amplifier can be said as a separate docking unit, equipped with four
USB 3.0 ports.
Being at the top level, Alienware 18 doesn't require
Graphics Amplifier. It has kept a pair of graphics cards via Nvidia SLI feature
with the options of GTX 970M or 980M. The top-end model is claimed as 'the most
powerful notebook', armed with Intel Core i7-4940MX processor, dual channel
32GB RAM, 512GB mSATA SSD, plus 1TB hard drive. This notebook is made for
dueling in the class of MSI GT72 or Asus ROG G751.
Alienware's latest notebooks are priced in various prices,
depend on the hardware options. Alienware 13 is sold ranging from US $ 1,000,
Alienware 15 for US $ 1,200, and then the Alienware 17 is offered starting at
US $ 1,500, and the Alienware 18 is offered in the range of US $ 2,500 to US $
4,650. And, the Graphics Amplifier is sold separately, for US $ 400 to US $
1,200.
