One of the latest smartwatches offered on Kickstarter is
Boldr Voyage. Slightly different, the Boldr Voyage is more comfortable to be
called ‘clever watch’ rather than a smartwatch. This is because it is designed
as an elegant traditional watch, but at the same time also stores a number of
smart features.
Boldr Voyage looks graceful just like the conventional
watches that are made by Switzerland and Japanese manufacturers. If seen from
the outside, perhaps you will think that this is a regular watch. The case is
coated by scratch-resistant glass, while the strap is made of premium leather
material. There are 6 color combinations of the straps and cases, and the strap
can be removed easily just like the majority of other smartwatches.
On the right side, there is a crown that's flanked by a pair
of buttons. There is no digital screen at all; all of them are analog here.
Boldr Voyage is powered by Quartz movement mechanism which receives power
supply from a standard button battery, which can last up to 3 years. Boldr
Voyage is waterproof, and it can be taken for diving to a depth of 30 meters.
Behind the traditional appearance, Boldr Voyage stores 3D
accelerometer and pedometer that enable it to calculate every step of your
feet. Boldr Voyage can store the data of user's activities for 7 days, but
there is also a synchronization feature to smartphone via Bluetooth 4.0.
Your daily target can be set via a companion application
which will be available on Android and iOS. Along with the progress of your activities,
the LED light on each number on the Boldr Voyage's interface will light up,
indicating the progress in every 10 percent. Interestingly, the target progress
doesn't stop only in the number of 100 percent, but 110 percent. Boldr Voyage
wants you to exceed the target that has been determined in each day.
In addition to monitoring physical activities, Boldr Voyage
will also vibrate, and the arrow symbol on the number 12 will also light up whenever
there is a notification that goes into smartphone. It will also do the same
thing every time you are too far away from your smartphone. Lastly, it can also
function as a remote shutter, so you can operate the smartphone's camera from a
distance.
All the modules in this clever watch are powered by a button
battery with 6 months durability. Yup, Boldr Voyage will not force you to
recharge the battery every few days just like most of other smartwatches.
Replacing the battery can be done easily; insert a coin into battery cover on
the back, and then turn to open it.
Boldr Voyage is still in the fundraising stage. You can
place an order on Kickstarter with the lowest pledge for $ 169. Each unit of
Boldr Voyage comes with a warranty for one year.
