The contribution of Tesla Motors in the automotive industry
is quite phenomenal. As we know, today nearly all automotive manufacturers have
their own electric cars. And all of this was pioneered by Tesla, when they
introduced the prototype of Tesla Roadster, a two-door sedan that relies on
electrical energy in full, in the mid-2006.
Some time ago, Tesla stole another attention, but this time
they didn't produce a new electric car, they introduced the Tesla Energy, an
alternative energy solution for home and industrial needs. Simply put, Tesla
Energy was designed to be a giant power bank to support houses to factories.
Only about a month later, another car manufacturer follows
the step of Tesla. The company is Mercedes-Benz, where they introduce a product
line that has a similar concept with the Tesla Energy.
Mercedes-Benz hasn't revealed the official name of this new
product, but it's said that this product consists of battery units that each
unit is capable of storing up to 2.5 kWh electric powers. A total of eight
units can be gathered into one, with a total capacity of 20 kWh electrical powers.
It's explained that homeowners who use solar panels can
store the excess electric power in the Mercedes-Benz's battery units. For
additional information, these battery units are the development result of a
battery company named Accumotive, which was acquired by Daimler as the parent
company of Mercedes-Benz in 2014.
Mercedes-Benz is currently exhibiting their giant power bank
in the Intersolar Expo, which takes place in the Munich, Germany, starting on
June 10 to 12, 2015. There is no information about the price offered, but they
have received and ready to fulfill the orders in next September.
