The retro appearance of Leica Q is supported by very
qualified components. Behind the fairly compact dimensions - 130 x 80 x 93 mm,
and weighs 640 grams plus battery - Leica Q is packing full-frame sensor
resolution of 24 megapixels. Leica claims that this large-sized sensor is
capable of producing images with very minimal noise, even at the maximum ISO
setting, i.e. 50,000.
Accompanying the professional DSLR class sensor is the Leica
Summilux 28mm f/1.7 ASPH lens. With a very large aperture and a focal length of
28 mm, the Leica Q is ideal to accompany the street photography activities.
About the performance, Leica Q autofocus system is believed to be the fastest
in its class, while its continuous shooting speed reaches 10 fps in the maximum
resolution.
In the back of the camera you will be greeted by an
electronic viewfinder (EVF) that's claimed to have the highest resolution at
this time, i.e. 3.68 megapixels. You can use the EVF for photographing and
video recording at 1080p 60 fps, or utilize the 3-inch touch screen, resolution
of 1.04 million dot - this screen can also be used to determine the focus
simply by touching an area.
Wi-Fi connectivity is also integrated in the Leica Q body.
Using a companion application on a smartphone or tablet, users can move images
and control the Leica Q from a distance.
Leica Q is priced at $ 4,250, far above the Sony RX1R which
incidentally is the only other compact camera with full-frame sensor. In the
sales package, Leica also provides Adobe Lightroom 6 software.
