In addition to announcing OS X 10:11 El Capitan, Apple also
announces iOS 9 as a successor of the mobile operating system they have.
Although Apple's focus in iOS 9 is the stability and optimization of the
operating system, but Apple also provides the latest features that make iOS
becomes more sophisticated.
Siri will be more intelligent with Proactive Assistant
feature in which this feature is able to predict the needs of its users. Siri
also gets display update to be aligned with the Siri appearance on Apple Watch.
In addition to Siri, Spotlight also becomes smarter in doing
the search, just like on OS X 10:11 El Capitan. Spotlight is able to find the
information you need, and if an appropriate application is installed on your
iOS devices, the results will be displayed in the application and not in the
Safari browser. To access the Spotlight in iOS 9, users no longer have to swipe
down like in iOS 8, but swipe to the right like in iOS 6.
The shift key on the keyboard that has been confusing for
many users has also been fixed by Apple. Moreover, the users can recognize the
size of letters that are typed via keyboard display.
Apple also simplifies the text selection activities on iOS
9. You can make the text selection by doing swipe with two-finger on the
keyboard area. On the iPad, there is additional toolbar to cut, copy or paste.
The Notes application in iOS9 also gets some fixes and
additional features. You can make a list, add a picture, do formatting in the
text, and even drawing.
On iOS 9, later you will also get iCloud Drive application
for organizing files stored on it. Another new application is the Wallet and
News. Both of these applications replace the Passbook and Newstand which
previously had existed in the iOS.
Settings access in IOS 9 also receives additional search
feature to facilitate the search for the necessary settings. At the Battery,
now there is a toggle to enable the latest mode of low-power feature to save
power. Monitor the remaining battery in the device also becomes easier with the
battery widget on the notifications center.
The presence of multitasking features also makes the iPad
becomes more feature rich. Split View comes to iPad Air 2 which allows two
applications to run simultaneously, users can interact directly without a
hitch.
For older versions of iPad, you can use the Slide Over to
display a smaller application window on the side of the main application. With
this feature you can reply or mention iMessages while opening other
application.
Good news for those who have iOS devices that have supported
iOS 8 because IOS 9 can also be installed into the devices. As promised, Apple
also presents optimization for the update size of IOS 9, it's only about 1 GB.
iOS 9 is already available for developers and will be tested
to the public in July 2015.
