There is no exact rule in creating and using
skateboard. Based on history, skateboard
is considered as contemporary trend and also wheeled sport instrument. That's
why there are so many skateboard designs created, for example longboard,
shortboard, slalom board, wave board, and of course hoverboard.
Talking about the hoverboard, Back to the Future II movie
perhaps will always be mentioned, because here where the premise of hoverboard
is created, and then triggers some inventors to seek various methods to make it
happen. Last year a small team has successfully made the first hoverboard in
the world named Hendo Hover. But what is surprising is Lexus reportedly also
tries to develop a hoverboard.
The Toyota's premium vehicle manufacturer reveals Lexus Hoverboard aka Slide. When Hendo Hover is still using wide and bulky
experimental device, the Lexus Hoverboard has adopted a stylish and slim
appearance though it's still a prototype. Slide is deliberately made in order
to represent the identity of Lexus. It has bamboo layer on above, combined with
curved body and spindle grille on below. Lexus Hoverboard utilizes all types of
materials that exist in their luxury cars.
To create Slide, Lexus team reportedly collaborates with
some experts of super-conductive technology. Unfortunately if you visit their
official website, Lexus only gives small explanation. They only explain how the team carries
magnetic lifting force to achieve movement system without friction. Lexus uses
a series of permanent magnets and superconductors that are cooled by liquid
nitrogen.
The above composition, especially the liquid nitrogen, is
not a save combination for consumer products, but interestingly, the prototype
of Slide has passed the initial test in Barcelona. Unfortunately in the teaser
video, Slide only floats a few centimeters above the surface without someone on
it, so we can't see the real usage of the Lexus Hoverboard.
Slide presence doesn't mean that Lexus is trying to get into
hoverboard segment. It is not for sale, the Lexus Hoverboard is one of four
sections of Amazing in Motion campaign.
