Avengers: Age of Ultron recently aired on the big screen,
and maybe it could revive our wishful about a superhero. Among fictitious superheroes
in the movies, Iron Man looks more real because he doesn't really have super
powers and only rely on the strength of his powerful armor. And we also know
that there is a tool that allows us to fly like Tony Stark, the tool is called
Jet Pack.
Jet Pack personal transportation system has ever mentioned
as future vehicle concept. But unfortunately it's still far from practical
application because not only requires high expertise in riding this 'vehicle',
but Jet Pack hasn't had a standard design as well as hasn't passed the safety
certification. But it doesn't stop these two men, Yves 'Jetman' Rossy and Vince
Reffet to test their physical and guts limits.
"If you have a dream, if you have an idea, even if it's
crazy — try it," Rossy says in the video. "Flying is a really old
dream of the human and we are pushing the realization of that dream."
In the video, Rossy and Reffet are flying using the Jet
Pack. They not only fly in the sky, but also demonstrate epic maneuvers just
like Iron Man when shots in the air. Rossy and Reffet action can be done
because of the full support of advanced Jet Pack. The device is equipped with
1.8 meter-wide wings, and custom made using carbon fiber material. As the main
power source, the technician utilizes four JetCat P200 engines, producing 23 kg
thrust with an average speed of 250 kilometers per hour. To start the flight,
the Jet Pack pilots are taken by helicopter to an altitude of 2.1 km.
Vince Reffet is a successor and protégé of Yves Rossy since
2009. Rossy himself is a veteran pilot who had flown with a variety of aircraft
types, ranging from the Hawker Hunter, Boeing commercial aircraft, to Mirage
fighter jet for the Swiss Air Force. Over the past 20 years, he spent his time
in designing 15 different models of Jet Pack.
