The Void is a Virtual Reality in the Real World

The Void

What is your imagination about the use of head-mounted display products such as Vive and Oculus Rift? Wear it on special gaming space, and then bring you as if you are going into the game? Ken Bretschneider, James Jenson and Curtis Hickman have different views on the application of VR. They introduce The Void, its function is to invite you to visit the virtual world, literally.

The Void is an ambitious idea. Simply put, it is a playground area of 18 acres, part of Evermore Park. There, you can try a variety of adventures start from fantasy, horror, and science fiction armed with a high degree of realism brought by the virtual reality; experience the epic (and difficulty) to fight against a giant dragon, infiltrating the space station, and explore the maze of monsters.

The Void utilizes VR device called Rapture HMD. This head-mounted display is designed to present the most real experience of virtual reality; it's claimed exceeds the specifications of competitors' retail products. Each device stores a pair of curved OLED 1080p 120Hz display, almost twice the level of resolution acceptance and color in the human eyes, plus high-quality headphones and mic.

The Void

Of course a headset alone is not complete; Rapture HMD is also equipped with motion tracking clothes and accessories such as swords, pistols and seat simulator. By holding those equipments which look like the original ones - not just a peripheral controller - the experience becomes more realistic. Imagine the feeling when you are bringing a lantern and passing the underground passageways, where you should be careful in order not to get caught by the monsters.

Amazingly, you can enjoy The Void alongside or against your friends. Content is an essential thing, and the team intends to develop it by themselves, assisted by other developers and third-party companies. They want to deliver the content just like a movie, and have been busy arranging it for several years back.

The Void is scheduled to begin its construction in September, and will operate on June 2016 in Evermore Park, Utah. The tickets are offered range from US $ 25 to US $ 40. According to the plan, The Void will also be opened in Asia, Europe and Australia. Let's watch the introduction video below.
