One of the biggest mysteries about the Microsoft's operating
system, Windows 10, has now revealed; the new browser that's projected to be
the successor of Internet Explorer finally gets an official name: Microsoft Edge.
Yes, the name is taken from the rendering engine that
becomes the brain of the browser with Project Spartan as the codename. When
viewed from another perspective, this also means that the 'e' logo of Internet
Explorer wont' be abandoned just like that.
At the same time, the name of Microsoft Edge is also based
on an interesting philosophy, where on one side (edge) you'll consume content
through this browser, and on the other edge you will also be creative with it.
However, this name won't mean anything without the presence
of new advantages offered by this browser. In its latest build, Microsoft Edge
packs the New Tab page that looks exciting both in the terms of aesthetics and
functionality. Not only displays bookmarks and frequently visited sites, the
New Tab page will also feature curated news based on user’s interest in certain
topics that are learnt by Cortana.
The information card ala Google Now which displays the
weather forecast and the like also gets a special room at the New Tab page. Similarly
with the application recommendations that can be downloaded directly through
the Windows Store.
Another advantage offered by Microsoft Edge is the web
extension feature. In his presentation, Joe Belfiore as Vice President of
Microsoft explained that the extension or plugin on Mozilla Firefox and Google
Chrome can be presented to Microsoft Edge only by slight code modification.
