The price of 3D printers is getting more affordable today.
You can easily create a variety of three-dimensional objects at home with
family and friends, then what else? Hmm, maybe you can make it more colorful!
As we know, the 3D printers are generally only able to print
in limited colors, if you want to get more colors; you usually have to spend
more money to buy a more expensive 3D printer variant. Perhaps you are able to
modify it by placing four nozzle and four filament rolls at a time, but it is
too much to cause problems than effective functions of the 3D printer itself.
This is where a company named Mosaic Manufacturing wants to
take the role. They have just announced a product that can provide the ability
to print in multiple colors simultaneously on a 3D printer.
The product is called The Palette. It is a bridge between
the 3D printer and your computer. This tool makes 3D printing activity becomes
more colorful, literally.
The unique thing from The Palette is its simplicity to use.
You don't need to modify your 3D printer, and the nozzle needed still remains
one. The Palette will organize the printing process so that the printer's
nozzle will issue a filament in different colors.
There are four filament rolls that can be used to print at
the same time. Not only filaments with different colors, The Palette can also
accommodate different types of filaments, which will then be merged into a
single object based on your design.
Just imagine if you were an interior designer, and you have
to prepare living room mockups for your client. Rather than make these mockups
in one monotone color, you can create a miniature of living room which contains
of furniture with four different colors. You will be proud of your creation,
and the clients will be satisfied with your performance.
About the software, you can still use your favorite
software. After designing, you just need to open the file in The Palette's
software to make further adjustments before starting the printing.
Public enthusiasm for The Palette is enormous; this can be
seen from the successful campaign in Kickstarter which has exceeded the target
even though there are still several days left. Unfortunately, all early-bird
pledges have gone, but if you're interested, you can order The Palette at a
price of $ 849. Indeed the price is equivalent or even more expensive than the
price of a 3D printer itself, but its potential and compatibility with many 3D
printers make a lot of people interested in it.
