What if you could learn about the
Ferrari supercar directly, without having to rely on information from brochures
or their marketing staff?
Ferrari, in collaboration with
ZSpace developer team, introduces Ferrari Augmented Reality Showroom
application. The application that's designed for tablet will allow users to
unload five Ferrari supercars virtually - 458 Speciale, 458 Spider, FF, F12
Berlinetta and California T.
What does it mean? Simply put, you
just need to open the application, point the rear camera of your tablet to one
of Ferrari cars in front of you, and then you can manipulate the car.
This application utilizes 3D
tracking technology from Metaio, where the physical form of the car will be
analyzed, and then you can change the color of the paint, switch the wheels, or
disassemble the wheels to learn how complex the brake components. Everything
takes place in real-time.
The AR technology is intended to
allow prospective buyers to perform car configuration settings and see the
results directly. You don't need to wait for the dealer officer to take you to
the warehouse where the car variant you want is still stored.
For now, the Ferrari AugmentedReality Showroom application has been launched to the market of Japan and
Australia only. Ferrari and ZSpace will show it off to a wider public in
InsideAR 2015 event that will be held in San Francisco, at mid of May.
