Speaking of drones, we will be reminded on the DJI name. The
company that's headquartered in Shenzhen city, China, is known for their
Phantom drone line which creates many achievements.
A few years after the first generation of DJI Phantom was
launched, this drone has evolved into a mandatory device that must be owned by
the fans of aerial videography. Surely there must be a reason behind the
success of DJI Phantom line, and in the case of DJI Phantom 2 Vision +, one of
the aspects that attract the attention of consumers is the 3-axis gimbal which
is capable of effectively absorbs shocks during the video recording.
Following the success of the Phantom 2, DJI Phantom 3 is
released. There are two variants introduced: Phantom 3 Professional and Phantom
3 Advanced. Both have been equipped with a more sophisticated new navigation
system.
DJI Phantom 3 locking position is now more accurate thanks
to the combination of GPS and GLONASS. When it's in a closed room where GPS
signal is not available, Phantom 3 will enable the Vision Positioning
technology, utilizing ultrasonic sensor so that it can fly low over the floor.
DJI Phantom 3 is also friendlier to the beginners. With
auto-takeoff feature, the users can fly the Phantom 3 at a predefined height
with just one button on the companion application. Furthermore, Phantom 3 will
be free to maneuver.
Auto-return home feature allows Phantom 3 to remember the take-off
location via GPS. Thus, wherever the Phantom 3 flies, you can call back the
drone to its original position with just one button.
When the battery is about to run out and Phantom 3
connection with its remote control is suddenly disconnected, the failsafe
feature will be automatically activated; Phantom 3 will return to the starting
position by itself and immediately lands before it runs out of power.
DJI Phantom 3 Remote control has also received a number of
improvements. There is a special mount to pair a smartphone or tablet on it.
Its signal transmission is now 2 km, and the most interesting is the Phantom 3
can forward 720p resolution video to a smartphone or tablet in real-time from a
distance.
Even so, the biggest update brought by DJI Phantom 3 is the
video quality. Its 3-axis gimbal is still the same, but the camera that’s
embedded in the Phantom 3 Professional can record 30 fps in 4K resolution - the
Phantom 3 Advanced camera can record video at 1080p 60 fps.
The camera of the two Phantom 3 variants wears 1/2.3 inch
sensor made by Sony, with image capture resolution of 12 megapixels. This new
camera is accompanied by a 20 mm lens, f / 2.8, with a wide viewing angle of
94º.
DJI has planted a number of sensors on the 4480mAh battery
power that's used by Phantom 3. With the help of these sensors, the users can
monitor the battery status in real-time. The battery resistance is claimed can
reach up to 23 minutes, and the Phantom 3 Professional is accompanied with a
special charger that can recharge the battery faster.
DJI Phantom 3 is scheduled to be marketed in the next few
weeks. The Professional variant which brings 4K camera package is valued at $
1,259, while the Advanced variant will be offered at $ 999.
