The leading camera manufacturer, Olympus, has recently
launched its first action camera. This action camera is pretty special because
it's really designed to capture a variety of outdoor activities.
Named Olympus Stylus Tough TG-Tracker, it looks sturdy just
like other Olympus Tough line. Its body is waterproof to a depth of 30 meters,
impact resistant from a height of 2.1 meters, freezeproof up to -10º C, and
crushproof up to a pressure of 100 kg, all without relying on additional
casing.
Olympus Stylus Tough TG-Tracker is equipped with f/2.0 lens
with 204º viewing angle, 1/2.3 inch CMOS sensor at 8 megapixel resolution. It
can capture video in 4K resolution at 30 fps. Accompanying the sensors, there is
TruePic VII image processor chip that previously has been applied into Olympus
OM-D series, and there is also 5-axis image stabilization system.
TG-Tracker has been equipped with GPS, barometric pressure
sensor, temperature sensor, accelerometer, and e.Compass. Various data
collected can be directly attached into the recorded video.
TG-Tracker rear panel is equipped with a 1.5-inch LCD that
can be pulled to the side just like camcorder. Below the lens there is also a
LED light with a brightness level of 60 lumens that can be used as a flashlight
when the user is walking in the dark.
Additionally, there is an accessory in the form of a pistol
grip that's included in the sales package. This accessory will certainly help
the user to hold the camera with a more stable; its position can be changed for
a variety of needs, including taking a selfie. Afterwards, user can easily move
the pictures or videos to a smartphone via Wi-Fi.
Olympus Stylus Tough TG-Tracker will be marketed starting
next June for $ 350. It will be offered in two colors: green and black.
