Facebook continues to finalize its Live Video platform to
face tough competition with Periscope. Recently, Facebook launches Live Map for
desktop. This feature is basically an interactive map that displays all the
videos that are broadcasted live from around the world.
In the picture above, we can see that in Asia, most of Live
Videos come from Thailand, Vietnam and Taiwan, which are represented by the
blue dots on the map. When it is shifted to the left, you'll see more blue dots
in the United States.
When the mouse is pointed onto a point, there will be a
preview of the video along with the name of the broadcaster and how long the
live stream has lasted. Complementing this information is the blue lines which
indicate the audiences' origins.
To access the Live Map, users can select the option of
"Live Video" at the left side of application. This feature can certainly facilitate the
users to search new live videos rather than have to follow a person or a brand
and wait for the notifications.
If the users just want to watch a popular Live Video, the
left sidebar can help, there will be displayed a row of videos based on
popularity and the number of viewers.
