LG has just announced the LG Action Cam LTE, a resilient
compact camera that can record 4K video, and then broadcast it live via the LTE
network.
This camera has a beam design with dimensions of 35 x 35 x
78 mm and weighs 95 grams, and the front side is dominated by the lens. Behind
the lens there is 1/2.3-inch sensor at 12.3-megapixel resolution that's ready
to record 4K video at 30 fps, 1080p 60 fps or 720p 120 fps.
Unlike the GoPro or other action cameras on the market that
rely on Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, the LG Action Cam LTE also brings cellular
connectivity, which means users can do a live streaming without having to
connect to a smartphone. Important note: the live streaming video quality is
only limited in resolution of 720p 30 fps.
The presence of 3G / LTE connectivity allows it to be used
as a CCTV camera and dashboard camera. All pictures and videos are stored on a
microSD card, which the LG Action Cam LTE supports up to 2 TB capacities.
LG Action Cam LTE has got IP67 certificate, which means that
it's fully protected from dust or sand, and can be taken while diving at a
depth of 1 meter for 30 minutes. Later LG will also provide an optional
waterproof casing that allows the device to be taken for diving longer and
deeper.
Another interesting thing is a number of optional mount, so
the camera could be installed at the top of the helmet, bike handlebars, car
and other objects. The battery is durable enough for the size of an action cam;
it's capable of 1080p video recording for 4 hours nonstop.
So far LG hasn't revealed the price of the LG Action Cam
LTE. This device will be marketed in South Korea first started next month, then
followed into other areas.
