Google introduces the Science Journal, an Android
application that's designed to facilitate the science experiments. With this
application, users can basically perform various measurements by utilizing the
smartphone's sensors - accelerometer, light sensor and so forth - and then
analyze the data in the form of graph or chart that's easily understood.
The type of sensors in smartphone is certainly very limited.
Therefore, Google will also offer a number of supplementary materials to
maximize the potential of the Science Journal in the scientific labs. The
supplementary materials include a wide variety of external sensors,
microcontrollers and many more, but unfortunately so far Google will offer it
only for US consumers.
Overall, the Science Journal is projected as a digital note
book to accompany the users during the experiments, start from making little
notes until performing precise measurements to produce valid results.
Science Journal is now available for free on Google Play,
and will be open-source start next summer. For those who need inspiration
related to any activity that can be done together with this application, you
can go directly to the Science Journal site.
