Garmin continues to spread its wings in the wearable devices
segment. After introducing Vivomove, an analog watch that has been equipped
with activity tracking capability, Garmin now releases a brand-new version of
its flagship tracker, Vivosmart.
This new version is called Vivosmart HR+. The shape and
design is almost identical to Vivosmart HR that had been announced last year.
The difference is in the components therein, where Vivosmart HR+ is now not
only equipped with a heart rate sensor, but also GPS and the ability to monitor
a number of activities automatically (Garmin Move IQ), ranging from walking, running,
cycling, swimming until elliptical workout.
The presence of GPS also means that the data that's
collected for distance-based activities will be much more accurate. Although
the update sounds not too special, but the addition of GPS and Move IQ feature
has been able to give a more significant experience than its predecessor.
Just like other Garmin wearable devices, the data that's
collected by Vivosmart HR+ will be synchronized automatically with Garmin
Connect app on the smartphone. Users can also take advantage of Vivosmart HR+
to forward notifications, control the music, and to track the phone's location.
The battery of Vivosmart HR+ is claimed to be able to
operate up to five days nonstop despite being constantly monitors the heart
rate. However, the durability of the battery will decrease dramatically to 8
hours when GPS is activated.
Garmin Vivosmart HR + has been sold at a price of $ 220. It
comes in three colors and two sizes of strap.
