The leading camera manufacturer, Leica, has recently
launched a product that will make consumers wonder, this is a digital camera
without LCD. Yes, you read that right, the Leica M-D (Type 262) doesn't bring a
screen on its rear panel.
The rear panel is only occupied by ISO regulator knob, a
viewfinder at the top left and a rotary knob on the top right; without LCD,
this camera automatically also doesn't have a menu system at all.
Leica basically wants to revive the art of analog
photography, where the creativity of the users won't be disturbed by the shot
result. Here the users will only focus on composition while adjusting the key
parameters such of shutter speed, aperture, ISO and of course the focal point.
But of course this camera is still emphasizing the image
quality above all else. It is equipped with a full-frame CMOS sensor at
24-megapixel resolution, but users can only take images in RAW DNG format,
without JPEG option. Furthermore, this camera can't even record a video, so
it's completely dedicated for photography.
Considering the features carried, of course Leica M-D is not
for general users, especially considering the price is around $ 6,000. You can
see the Leica M-D photos in Leica's blog.
