Nvidia Drive PX 2 is trusted to be the brain of self-driving race cars of Roborace

Nvidia Drive PX 2

Some time ago, we've seen the form of self-driving race cars of Roborace, the cars are designed by famous designer Daniel Simon. Kinetic as the company that will develop the cars hasn't revealed the detail features of the cars, but surprisingly, another party doesn't mind to give a bit clue to public.

What is the relation of this graphics card manufacturer with Roborace? Apparently Nvidia gets a responsibility from Kinetic to design an automatic steering system that will be used in Roborace.

Nvidia actually already has a similar system called Drive PX, and at CES 2016, Nvidia announced the second version: Drive PX 2, which would later be used in the Roborace competition.

Nvidia Driver PX 2 is actually a supercomputer that's armed with powerful artificial intelligence (AI), it's packed in a casing that's no bigger than a lunch box. This small box that will become the brain of all the cars in the Roborace competition, of course, accompanied by series of sensors sort of radar, lidar, camera, GPS and high definition mapping.

According to Nvidia, the more often these race cars are used, the performance of Drive PX 2 will increase thanks to the deep learning concept carried. But everything remains back into the hands of the teams that will compete in Roborace, where they must optimize their automatic steering software respectively.
