The electronics manufacturer from China, LeEco (formerly
LeTV), recently has made a breakthrough in the automotive industry by
introducing its first concept car. Named LeSEE, this sedan is a form of LeEco's
ambition to compete with Tesla Motors.
LeSEE is an electric sedan just like the Tesla Model S. The
similarities don't stop there; LeSEE is also equipped with automatic steering
system that's claimed to be more sophisticated than Tesla's Autopilot system.
In the announcement event in China, the LeEco CEO, Jia
Yueting showed off the ability of LeSEE to understand the voice commands and
move by itself from the container to the stage. The CEO mentioned a number of
commands to his smartphone, and LeSEE automatically moved, even moved backwards
as well.
LeSEE has a number of design aspects that are quite
interesting, such as the front nose that's filled with LEDs. These LEDs can be
lit in a variety of modes, act as headlights and also turn signals.
Inside the cabin there are LCD screens everywhere. This is
not too surprising, considering LeEco has cooperated with Faraday Future to
develop internet-based system and also digital contents that can be used by the
users in the car while relaxing because they don't have to hold the steering
control.
As a concept car, of course there's no public release
schedule for LeSEE. Leeco plans to showcase its electric sedan at the Beijing
Auto Show on next April 24.
The present of LeSEE becomes a sign that China has great
vision in the automotive industry, particularly in electric technology and
automatic steering system.
