At the end of last year, there was an initiative from the
Formula E organizer to hold a racing event named Roborace, where all the participants
are driverless race cars. This announcement triggered curiosity about the form
of driverless race cars that will be pitted in the competition.
Recently, the Roborace team showed off a wonderful race car to the
public, and as you can see in the picture above, it looks absolutely
phenomenal.
This car will be developed by a company called Kinetic.
However Kinetic apparently won't work alone because Roborace party has
appointed Daniel Simon as Chief Design Officer. He is a figure who designed the
super-cool vehicles in the film Tron: Legacy, along with the other vehicles in
the Oblivion movie.
Daniel explained that he and his team want to create a race
car with a balance between performance and aesthetics. Because this car will
not be driven by human, the aesthetic aspects can be maximized.
Aerodynamics also becomes a key in the development of
Roborace race car. Two massive air holes are given at the front and they are
connected to the tail of the car. Daniel and his team are also developing body
components that can adapt to road conditions, as is commonly found in the
latest generation of supercars with active spoiler.
So far Roborace race car is still a concept since the
competition itself will begin between the end of this year or early next year.
Apart from that, this new idea will make the Roborace as an interesting car racing
to be watched.
