At CES 2016 in January, Asus completed its gaming gear line
by introducing a number of new peripherals, such as Republic of Gamers Claymore
keyboard, ROG Spatha mouse, and also the ROG 7.1 headphone.
In this article, we will discuss about ROG Spatha, a gaming
mouse that's made as the peripheral of massively multiplayer online (MMO) game.
This is one of the high-end gears of this Taiwanese manufacturer. Asus doesn't
consider it as a regular mouse, but it's a symbol that you are serious. This
mouse is designed to make sure that all functions of the game will be in your
hands.
Asus ROG Spatha carries ergonomic design, it's not
ambidextrous, so that it is less suitable for the left-handed gamers. However,
in the majority, ROG Spatha has big chance to become a favorite peripheral. Its
chassis is made of magnesium metal, the sides are separated by thick lines, and
there are three separate LED lights zones.
The design is not only for sweetener, the right button is
longer because generally the size of our middle finger is longer than index
finger, then the pattern of 'Maya's temple' on the side is given to make sure
that your grip will stay steady even if you have large hands. ROG Spatha is
also suitable for two types of mouse usages: palm or claw grip.
The Switch Omron inside will makes sure that the ROG Spatha
is still functioning normally up to 20 million clicks. It is presenting a total
of 12 buttons that can be customized, including six thumb buttons. Its switch
socket is upgradable so you can customize the 'feel' of the mouse easily. ROG
Spatha can be used as a wired or wireless mouse, presenting 8.200dpi laser
sensor, capable of detecting speed of 150 inches per second and 30g of
acceleration.
There is little difference between the polling rate of cable
mode (via USB 2.0) and wireless: 2.000Hz and 1.000Hz. Asus ROG Spatha is
carrying 2.4GHz speed connection to communicate with the PC, so the level of latency
will be minimal. This mouse is bundled with two cable types: 1-meter rubber
cable and 2-meter braided cable. The LED light colors and patterns, as well as
buttons' functions can be configured via ROG Armory software that's available
as download.
