During the 75 years of existence, the name of Hasselblad was
always associated with the medium format photography due to its large cameras,
expensive, but capable of producing images with incredible details level. The
world also admitted this Swedish company's reputation, one of which was when
Buzz Aldrin photographed Neil Armstrong when he was stepping his feet for the
first time on the Moon.
Now Hasselblad once again wants to prove its reputation as a
maestro of photography. Hasselblad has recently introduced a new medium format
camera named Hasselblad H6D, which can be considered as its most sophisticated
product so far.
Hasselblad H6D comes in two variants. One is equipped with a
50 megapixel CMOS sensor, while the other one packs 100-megapixel sensor.
Resolution of course is not a determinant of everything; but the physical size
of the sensor which is even larger than the full-frame sensor guarantees the
level of detail that can be generated, especially when it's supported by rows
of Hasselblad's super-sharp lens.
In the term of number, 100 megapixels is indeed really
massive, precisely on 11,600 x 8,700 pixels. Suppose you want to crop the photo
to 100 percent, that would still be very ideal for printing a billboard as big
as a house, and the sharpness of the detail is guaranteed won't decrease at
all.
In the term of performance, perhaps a middle-class DSLR will
be able to shoot faster than the H6D. But that is not the focus of Hasselblad.
The developer really prioritizes the image quality above all else, especially
its dynamic range can reach 15 stop to preserve as much as detail on shadow and
highlight areas.
Hasselblad also provides a number of features that can
facilitate the process of shooting, such as the autofocus system that can lock
the focus on a point and stick to it while the photographer resets the
composition.
A number of features that define the H6D as a modern camera
are also given; among of them are the 4K video recording, a 3-inch touch
screen, Wi-Fi connectivity, USB 3.0 and dual memory card slots (CF and SD card).
Hasselblad H6D can be purchased for $ 27,000 for the
50-megapixel version, and $ 33,000 for the 100-megapixel version and this
doesn't include a lens at all.
