A day after announcing the WWDC that will be held next June,
Apple immediately issued an update for the MacBook. Introduced in April last
year, this update is the first hardware update that's received by the MacBook.
Apple's thinnest laptop line now carries an Intel Skylake Core M processor.
With this hardware improvement, MacBook gets performance
enhancement although not significant. Although it consumes the same power as
the previous processor, but Skylake Core M is able to improve the performance
of the CPU and GPU. By bringing Intel HD 515 GPU, the MacBook is claimed can
run 25% faster than the first generation and is able to last longer for a few
hours of use.
Still offered at the same price as the previous version,
consumers can get a MacBook with a price of $ 1,299 for a basic configuration
of 1.1 GHz (2.2 GHz Turbo) Core M3 CPU, 8 GB 1866 MHz DDR3 RAM and 256 GB of
storage. In addition, Apple also adds Rose Gold color option in order to align
with the iPhone 6s, iPhone SE, Apple Watch and iPad Pro 9.7 inch.
For connectivity and charging, Apple is still relying on a
single USB type C port. The support for Thunderbolt 3 technology is not yet
available in the MacBook update this time.
MacBook Air also receives an update, although only minor
update. The MacBook Air with 13-inch screen is now carrying 8 GB RAM by
default. Previously you had to add $ 100 to upgrade the RAM to 8GB. The 11 inch
variant is still carrying 4 GB of RAM which can be upgraded to 8 GB.
MacBook is the right choice for those who want a laptop with
high portability. However there are several things to be compromised when using
the MacBook as there is only one connector, and you can't upgrade its RAM or
storage.
