Enliven the Baselworld 2016 event that's being held in
Switzerland, the US watch manufacturer, Nixon, introduces its first Android
Wear smartwatch. Called The Mission, it's designed as one of the toughest
smartwatches ever.
Nixon The Mission is an Android Wear smartwatch with
phenomenal water resistance, it can be taken to dive to a depth of 100 meters,
and if you see its design, The Mission looks very sturdy.
The Mission's body is made from a blend of polycarbonate and
stainless steel materials. Its rounded AMOLED screen is coated with Gorilla
Glass as extra protection. Even its silicon strap has a double layer in order
to provide a balance between comfort and physical toughness.
The Mission is one of the first smartwatches in the world
that carry the latest chipset of Qualcomm, Snapdragon Wear 2100. This chipset
is certainly more power efficient than the Snapdragon 400. Unfortunately Nixon
doesn't explain about the battery durability of this smartwatch.
The Mission is running Android Wear operating system, with
an exclusive selection of watch face that resembles to the Nixon's analog
watches. Nixon has partnered with Surfline, Snocountry and Trace to integrate
its own activity tracking application. With all its features, The Mission is
ideal for the surfers and snowboarders.
So far there is no certainty about the price and release
schedule of this new smartwatch. According to the plan, Nixon will offer
customization options of The Mission to its customers, ranging from the type of
finish casing, bezel colors and also the strap.
