From fiction to fact, the shoes that can tighten the
shoelaces by themselves so far can only be found in the Back to the Future
movie. But in recent years, Nike is seriously pursuing this mission, until
finally this company managed to create a prototype of these futuristic shoes.
In 2016, finally Nike is ready with the final product called
Nike HyperAdapt 1.0 which is a consumer version of the Nike Mag prototype with
the ability to tighten the shoelaces automatically. However the design has been refined so that
the shoes don't look too tacky - even though the light on the soles will still
steal the show.
These shoes work in simple way, when you wear them, your
heels would touch the sensors so that the laces will tighten by themselves automatically.
From there the user can use a pair of buttons on the side of the shoes to
adjust the firmness levels, whether too loose or too tight.
So does it mean that these shoes are not completely
automated? For this time the answer is yes, but Nike will continue to pursue
this mission until they managed to create a technology that's completely
automated, where shoes can also adjust the firmness by themselves without the
intervention of the user.
Nike HyperAdapt 1.0 is scheduled to go on sale in the
holiday season this year, but you must be a member of Nike + in order to be
able to buy it. Nike will be offered in three different colors, unfortunately
there is no certainty about the price.
